CEREC Same-Day Dental Restorations
At GNO Dental Care in Metairie and New Orleans, we use CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) technology to design, create, and deliver high-quality dental restorations in a single visit, often in about 1–2 hours.
CEREC combines advanced digital scanning, computer-aided design (CAD), and in-office milling to restore your teeth with durable, natural-looking ceramic materials — all without the need for traditional impressions or multiple appointments.
What Is CEREC and How the Process Works
CEREC is a state-of-the-art CAD/CAM dental system that lets us create restorations directly in the dental office. Instead of taking messy putty impressions and sending them to an outside lab, we use a digital scanner to capture 3D images of your prepared tooth.
Using specialized software, the restoration is designed right at the chairside. The design is then sent to an in-office milling machine, which carves your restoration from a solid block of ceramic that matches your tooth shade. Once milled, it is polished and bonded to your tooth — all within a single visit.
Because CEREC eliminates lab turnaround times and temporary restorations, most patients leave with their final restoration the same day as their appointment.
Uses of CEREC Technology
- Inlays: Tooth-colored restorations for decay or old fillings that need repair, fitting within the cusps of the tooth.
- Onlays (Partial Crowns): Cover one or more cusps of a tooth as a conservative alternative when a full crown isn’t necessary.
- Crowns: Custom covers that restore a tooth’s shape, size, strength, and appearance in a single visit.
- Veneers: Thin ceramic shells bonded to the front of teeth to improve appearance, repair chips, or correct cosmetic concerns.
- Multiple Restorations: CEREC can fabricate several restorations in one appointment, reducing overall treatment time.
